Honduras September 2016  - Smooth Mid-Year Medical

"One of the smoothest, easiest trips...No problems going through customs. No car breakdowns. Not torrential rains. We had a wonderful trip." Ten team members representing nine different churches served 550 patients in clinics in Guaimaca, Los Charcos, and LaBranza.  Large numbers of medicines were delivered especially those for chronic conditions for dispensing by Dr. Ponce in future visits.  You may view pictures and accounts on Dr. Ponce's Facebook page.

Honduras January 2016  - Snow Storm Cancels Trips

We are disappointed and saddened we had to cancel our January 2016 Honduras medical mission trip. We did our best to reschedule transportation after the snow storm stranded 29 team members in Nashville, but there were no other options that would get even part of the team to Honduras for several days.  We all hate to disappoint the folks of Honduras but we pray they will understand we did our best.  God sees and understands everything and we have faith that He know what is best.

Honduras September 2015  - Mid-Year Medical

Seven team members traveled to Cofradia, Honduras September 9-13, 2015 to provide medical care to the local population and support our local physician, Dr. Jorge Ponce.  The team of healthcare professionals and volunteers provided chronic disease management services to communities we have visited in the past.  In addition, the group brought medications that will allow Dr. Ponce to continue to treat diabetes, hypertension and epilepsy in these villages for the next six months.

Honduras March 2015 - Safe Water + Health & Hygiene Classes

A specialized team of four traveled to Honduras in March 2015 to deliver and install three safe drinking water purification systems in rural communities.  A special focus of select team members was health and hygiene instruction taught with innovative and unique methods including drama, puppets, coloring books and more.  Do you have the gift of teaching?  Do you love to work with children? How's your Spanish? A trip like this could be for you. Contact Doug Eaton, at doug@eatontechsolutions.com for more information.

Honduras January 2015 - Leadership Training + Medical Mission Trip

A team of four teachers went down a week early to lead a three and a half day Ministry Leadership Training course for pastors and their wives. The pastors received seminary-level training in sermon preparation, personal Bible study and church leadership. The pastors' wives participated in classes customized specifically for their unique support roles as wives and teachers. The focus of these efforts was to help equip local church leaders to build the Kingdom of God. It is our hope this will grow into a series of Ministry Leadership training courses held throughout the year.

A total of 38 missionaries worked long side dozens of local volunteers in five medical clinics  in four locations the following week - Sunday through Thursday (Cofradia, Guaimaca, Los Charcos, La Branza). They saw 2,423 medical patients including 326 dental patients.  They distributed 3,000 lbs of food to needy families and supplied 419 pairs of eyeglasses.

Honduras September 2014: Mid-Year Followup

A team of ten traveled to Honduras the week of Labor Day (Sept. 2-6, 2014).  The group consisted primarily of medical professionals who returned to the villages and communities where we conducted clinics in the past.  These clinicians and support staff focused on the unique needs of patients with chronic conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure.

2014 Honduras Water Purification Trip

A team of six missionaries traveled to Honduras on Saturday, April 26th for a week-long mission to install two water purification systems. Safe drinking water truly is medicine.  It directly impacts the health and lives people who do not currently have easy access to a reliable source of pure water.

The first system will provide pure drinking water to the tiny community of La Majada Verde, a rural village high in the mountainous region North of the capital city of Tegucigalpa.  The team worked in this remote village for three days with the Pastor Juan of La Iglesia Monte de  Bendición (The Blessings Church).

The second system was installed at La Puerta Al Cielo (The Door to Heaven Church) in the town of Guaimaca. Luke 9:2 Ministries has conducted several medical clinics with this church where pastor Grodwin and members have worked diligently to be a “lighthouse” of God’s love in their community.

Thank you for praying for our safe travel and all the little “challenges” of setting up water purification systems in a third world country.   Please ask the Father to speak through our lives as we seek to develop lasting relationships with the partners who will be responsible for operating the equipment.  Ultimately, Christ is the only true source of “Living Water” that can heal souls as well as bodies!

Team Members: Brett P, Doug E, Doug N, Phillip W, Rob S, Spencer H.

Honduras 2013 - The First Water Trip

Our Mission Statement reflects our desire to, "teach our patients the necessary skills to prevent disease and preserve wellbeing thus improving the health of the community as a whole." For years we knew that this effort must include a practical way to bring safe drinking water to the people we serve.

In September 2013, our mid-year trip to Honduras included four team members who worked in Cofradia to install a water chlorination and filtration system purchased from WaterStep International, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing solutions to the world's water crisis. An outdoor dedication ceremony at the end of day two marked the first successful "batch" of clean drinking water. The celebration included an explanation of how the system works, scripture reading, devotional thoughts, a mini-sermon and plenty of clean water to drink. It tasted great! And, everyone drank heartily with no ill effects or complaints.

We trained and educated a Honduran team who will operate and maintain the system. The future possibilities for this project are exciting and include delivery of safe water to the schools and poor families in the Cofradia community, distribution of free water to street children in the city of Tegucigalpa, training programs for more workers to use similar systems in remote villages, formation of micro businesses to distribute the chemical byproducts of the electrolysis process (a.k.a. Bleach & Lye), and more. We will continue to work closely with the local team to determine which solutions and plans make the most sense. The team is already planning our next visit including additional systems and training in more remote villages.
